Noel Park 140 Festival
2023 saw the 140th birthday of the Noel Park Estate, one of London’s original garden suburbs. Noel Park Big Local marked the occasion by hosting the first ever festival in Russell Park, our much-loved green space. The festival was a huge hit, bringing residents together to share food, stories and a love for the place we call home.
The festival celebrated our community’s rich past in the form of a historical photo exhibition and the launch of a new walking trail. Noel Park’s present and future were also in focus, with a giant display of residents’ pinhole photography and collaborative artwork created by children from Lordship Lane, Belmont and Noel Park primary schools.
Our live stage featured local young musicians as well as massed salsa and swing dance workshops. Haringey’s mayor and the leader of Haringey Council, Peray Ahmet also addressed the crowd before we drew the party to a close, faces painted and bellies full of free ice cream.
Food and drink was served by Russell’s Hub – our very own community café – alongside a diverse array of local food vendors. Stalls from local designer-makers sat alongside national charities and community groups, including the London Cycling Campaign, Friends of the Earth and Edible London.
